John Trepanier
Director of Financial Planning
What do you enjoy most about wealth management?
What I enjoy most is seeing the impact of our work—when clients express their appreciation and feel confident in their ability to live the life they want. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that the plans we build help them reach their goals.
What are the biggest challenges?
One of the biggest challenges is keeping up with constantly changing rules and regulations. Staying current with new developments is essential to providing sound, timely advice and ensuring our planning remains effective.
What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?
Earning my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification shortly after graduating was a major milestone. It affirmed my knowledge and ability to design financial plans that genuinely make a difference in our clients’ lives.
What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?
On the golf course, I’m proud to have pushed myself by competing in official state tournaments and winning my golf league’s inaugural season. Personally, I’m proud of the life I’ve built and the freedom I have to pursue my sports, hunting, and travel passions.
What quality of yours makes you best suited to do what you do?
I have a true passion for helping people, combined with a love for both numbers and creativity. Financial planning blends those perfectly, it’s part art, part science—and that balance fits me well.
How should people think about their wealth?
Wealth should be viewed as a tool to help you live the life you envision. At its core, it’s about building the income streams you need—both now and in retirement—to achieve your goals. Financial planning is a lifelong journey, one that evolves with you and requires regular adjustments along the way.
What do you love to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy golfing, hunting, traveling, camping, and spending time up north with family and friends. Being outdoors is where I feel most recharged.
What’s the most influential book you’ve read?
That Wild Country by Mark Kenyon really sparked my appreciation for America’s public lands and deepened my connection to the outdoors.
What would you be doing if you didn’t work in the financial industry?
Likely I would be working in the outdoor industry as I’ve always dreamed of owning a hunting camp and guiding hunts out west. My favorite memories often involve long hikes and sweeping views, so naturally I’m drawn to mountains.
